Seminar scheduled for May 27 at Oliver Woods Community Centre in Nanaimo
As we enter May, which is Hearing Awareness Month across Canada, it’s estimated that as many as one in 10 Canadians is living with hearing loss. Adding insult to injury for those people, says one local hearing professional, is that shopping for hearing aids has become an impossibly confusing experience fraught with “information overload.”
That’s why Hanan Merrill, a Registered Hearing Instrument Practitioner and the owner of Nanaimo Hearing Clinic, is hosting a free seminar May 27 titled, quite simply, “How to Shop for Hearing Aids.”
“From Bluetooth compatibility to multi-directional microphones, the options available with today’s hearing aids can be overwhelming,” says Merrill. “There are so many companies advertising that theirs are the best, cheapest, most comfortable or what have you. Who do you trust? And how do you know what you should be looking for or what features you really need?”
